\u00a0To enter the harbour<\/h3>\n

Ship captains must send the pilot request to LE HAVRE PORT (Harbour Master’s Office) for LE HAVRE or LE HAVRE-ANTIFER with an initial notice of 12 hours, indicating the name and designator of the ship, the draught and any damage. A second notice of 3 hours must indicate the name and designator of the vessel and any technical problems. Contact is made by VHF on channel 12 with a harbour officer located at the lookout (harbour master’s office). As soon as the Harbour Master’s Office is considering bringing the vessel in, it contacts the pilot on duty at the station. The latter will give an informed opinion on the technical feasibility. If there are no reservations, the pilot’s order is confirmed.<\/p>\n

To leave the harbour (or for shifting)<\/h3>\n

Ship’s agents (or Ship’s Masters) must send the pilot request directly to the station’s on-call pilot. This request must be made 2 hours before the ship’s departure. Vessels must submit their request for a pilot and their time of arrival in the roadstead 24 hours in advance, or at least 12 hours before high tide, or on leaving the previous port if it is less than 24 hours away. The request must specify the vessel’s overall length and beam, draught and whether it has a bow thruster. This request is sent to the pilot on duty via the ship’s agent. The Station has no administrative premises in F\u00e9camp.
