As part of a carefully integrated operation, the pilot on duty works closely with the Harbour Master’s Office in Le Havre. All pilot on duty are fully qualified pilots who combine their duties as on-call pilots with their normal flying duties.
An pilot on duty, permanently present at the station lookout, organizes the designation of pilots for the ships. This person is also always available to answer questions from the harbour master’s office, ship’s agents or captains. Expertise, recommendations or simply advice can therefore be provided at any time.
