An exceptional operation took place this week, on 11 August 2022: the removal of the pile from the old floating dock.

As part of the redevelopment of the Quai Johannes Couvert for the Siemens Gamesa factory, this pile had to be removed. Several months of preparation were required, during which the pile was floated and prepared for towing.

Because of its 17m draught, a special channel had to be dredged and temporary buoys moored to allow it to join the main channel of the port of Le Havre with 50cm of under-keel clearance in places.

Nearly 4,800 tonnes were lifted using several refloating balloons, and she was then towed to the Osaka quay in an operation piloted and assisted by 3 tugs.

The operation was prepared in collaboration with Eiffage Construction, Groupe ETPO and Boluda Towage Le Havre.
