A new phase began for the offshore wind farm project off Fécamp on 30 July 2022:
Transport to Le Havre, installation, and the installation off Fécamp of the gravity bases for the wind turbines have begun.
After several months of preparation and training on our Le Havre-Fécamp marine pilot simulator, the manoeuvres and piloting of the barges transporting the 71 gravity bases for the Fécamp wind farm have just begun.
These exceptional marine operations were made possible and prepared for thanks to the close collaboration with SAIPEM and the Port of Le Havre’s port institutions: the Port of Le Havre’s Harbour Master’s Office, Boluda Towage Le Havre and the Port of Le Havre’s boatage service.
One of the world’s largest crane vessels, the Heerema Marine Contractors SLEIPNIR, then installed the bases off Fécamp.
The gravity foundations (Bouygues Travaux Publics) are shipped by rolling by a subcontractor of Bouygues Travaux Publics and Saipem, SARENS, in charge of lifting and rolling to quay. The bases, each weighing 5,000 tonnes, are then transported three by three by barges operated by SAIPEM to their final location at sea.
